Karate Kids is a meditative look at the graceful and yet timid, almost fragile exercises of a young karate group. One can see every detail in between movements of uncertainty and almost perfection.
While looking at it for longer the exercises becoming familiar and a feeling of participation arises.
Expressions and emotions of the kids are greatly magnified. Their intimacy and intensity draws the viewer into their spell.
The soundtrack is based on the original sounds but slowed down, too as well as manipulated. The scraps of human voices draw a connection to the prayers and the deep singing of Tibetan monks.
